ABOUT CHOKOSAI EISHO
The most prolific artist of prints of women among Eishi's pupils. Eisho's forte was bust portraits of courtesans, and in comparison with his teacher, Eishi, his women seem more approachable and sweet. The majority of Eisho's prints were originally issued by the publisher Yamaguchiya Chusuke. Ch?k?sai Eisho (Hosoda Eisho) was active from 1780 - 1800 as an ukiyo-e painter and print designer. His work also shows the influence of Utamaro, particularly in his bust portraits (okubi-e); like Eiri and Eisui known for bust portraits of famous courtesans.
