About Ryusei Okamoto
Ryusei Okamoto (b. 1949), was the student of Toshi Yoshida from 1974 through 1984, and often works in a style that blends that of his master with the early shin hanga artists of Europe like Fritz Capelari. Most of Okamoto's prints are rendered on a large scale usually double oban or larger.

Okamoto's work is held in the collections of the Australia National Museum and New Zealand National Museum, and he has exhibited and won prizes for his prints in international exhibitions in Athens, Rome, Dublin, Norway, Denmark and Turkey. He has also exhibited and lectured on woodblock print making in California at the Mendocino Art Center.
